UPDATE: I created a blog! Follow this [link]

UPDATE: I made another Doctor Who chess set! It is currently for sale. Just follow this [link]

I'm quite pleased with my chess set. The pieces are all made from scratch! 32 pieces is quite a lot, I tell you... I like some pieces more than others, but I guess that's unavoidable. I wish you could all see this in real life though, it's much better than the photos. For instance, the Doctor's hair came out wonderfully, but can hardly be seen here.

Size: the board is 31x31 cm (exactly 1 foot square). The tallest pieces are the kings, they are almost 7 cm tall (2.75 inch). The Daleks are the smallest, they are about 3 cm high (1.2 inch). All pieces are made out of polymer clay.

So we have the 'good' and the 'evil' side.

:bulletred: Evil side:
:bulletgreen: King: The Master
:bulletgreen: Queen: Lady Cassandra
:bulletgreen: Bishops: Cybermen
:bulletgreen: Knights: Judoon & Sontaran
:bulletgreen: Rooks: Weeping Angels
:bulletgreen: Pawns: Daleks

:bulletred: Good side:
:bulletgreen: King: The Doctor (Ten)
:bulletgreen: Queen: Professor River Song
:bulletgreen: Bishops: Ood
:bulletgreen: Knights: Captain Jack Harkness & The Face of Boe
:bulletgreen: Rooks: Tardises
:bulletgreen: Pawns: Baby Adipose

Btw, I know I didn't place the pieces right. I have to admit I don't enjoy chess myself, although I loved it as a kid. I just love the idea of creating all the pieces now :) So I'm afraid I wasn't paying much attention when taking these photos. Sorry!

What do you guys think?

- UPDATE: the set has been SOLD! To one very lucky American :)

P.S. I wish I hadn't forgotten to put my camera on a higher resolution setting! This is the full size unfortunately. ;(

Can you tell me what tools you used to carve these peices? I kind of want to make my own, if that's okay.

I pretty much used only a knife and my fingers. It's clay, so it just need to be molded into the right shape. I did use a simple metal wire frame for most of the figures, building the clay around it.

Where'd you get the metal wire? What kind of metal?

Oh I don't know. I just went to the hardware store and got metal wire in the thickness of my preference. They had about 5 different sizes.
